From personal experience, many of my games check for add-ons at start-up, though not all have a dedicated screen for doing so as in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this, and would be happy to pass forward any feedback you have relating to the time spent checking for the add-ons, or else any other factors you'd like to raise (such as when the check is performed). Thank - The game will check for add-ons regardless of how many are owned, in order to verify the content you are entitled to have access to (particularly any cross-platform entitlements). We are investigating reported issues with long load times on multiple platforms, predominantly PS4 and PS5, at the moment. If you are experiencing longer-than-expected load times, please advise us of this in a more appropriate thread.
